NBCUniversal Volunteers are dedicated to strengthening the communities in which we live and work and are actively engaged around the country. These engaged volunteers make a significant impact in focused areas of education, community development and the environment.

Christmas in Spring

Each year Universal Studios Hollywood spreads holiday cheer to over 1,000 underserved M.E.N.D (Meet Each Need with Dignity) families for a day of Holiday Cheer. Children and families participate in tree trimming, receive gifts, enjoy entertainment and even a visit with Santa. This is M.E.N.D's 24rd annual Christmas in Spring event.

This year’s event included a customized mouthwatering menu prepared by Universal Studios Hollywood’s award-winning Executive Chef, Eric Kopelow and served by employee volunteers. Attendees also got to spend quality time with Minions, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and Dora and Diego from “Dora the Explorer.”

Fire Department Pancake Breakfast

This May, NBCUniversal once again participated in the annual Toluca Lake Fire Department Pancake Breakfast. Not only does this event help build community but it also raises funds for the department programs that support the families of lost firefighters. This year was the 11th Annual Old Fashioned Pancake Breakfast and it featured live music, fun activities for the kids, tours of the station, and of course, some really great pancakes.

Earth Week

As part of NBCUniversal’s Earth Week celebration, Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR) visited the Universal Studios lot with their LA River Rover, a 38’ mobile visitor and education center. Employees experienced the LA River’s past, present, and potential future through fun interactive displays and hands-on activities, while learning more about NBCUniversal’s $13.5 million investment to help realize the LA river and bike plans in the Valley.
