NBCUniversal invests in many significant roadway improvements within the communities surrounding our property. We understand congestion is a problem throughout the region, and we remain committed to improving traffic flow in and around our property.
As part of our proactive approach to help manage traffic and ease congestion, we created a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan, which was submitted and approved by Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) prior to issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy for the new immersive theme parkland that opened in 2016.
Other recent investments include:
Completed a voluntary traffic management process for Cahuenga Pass that includes recommendations for improved signage, speed control, traffic signals/signs, intersection improvements and more to improve traffic flow and safety.
Development and implementation of Neighborhood Traffic Management Plans for three neighborhoods along Lankershim Blvd. including:
- Improved Signage on Landale St.
- Sightline and Curb Improvements at Alley & Landale St.
- Crosswalk Enhancements at both
Lankershim Blvd. / Riverside Dr. and
Lankershim Blvd. & Moorpark St.
A new southbound on-ramp at Universal Studios Blvd. to directly connect our employees and guests to the US 101 Southbound.
US 101 Southbound on-ramp at Universal Studios Blvd. was widened and extended order to provide additional storage capacity on the ramp and help alleviate congestion along Lankershim Blvd. Additionally, added a right turn lane onto on-ramp.
Keep Clear and Do Not Block intersection signs installed.
Dedicated left turn lane at Blair Dr. & Barham Blvd. and “Keep Clear” stamp added to the intersection to improve access.
Pulled striping and relocated stop sign to improve traffic flow and safety.
Enhanced service with increased route frequency.
Modified signal and improved signage for pedestrian safety and traffic flow.
Dedicated right turn lane from Barham Blvd. to Cahuenga Blvd. East and dedicated westbound and left turn lane onto Barham Blvd. South; Future relocation of freeway signage.
Partnered with Metro on pedestrian bridge to help ease congestion on Lankershim Blvd. and increase safety.
$10M to create a bike lane along the LA River without break.
Funded plans for freeway interchange improvements, that are awaiting Caltrans final review so Caltrans can seek funding.
Funded traffic officers at key locations during special events.
Restriped Lankershim Blvd. to provide an additional eastbound left turn lane and added right turn signal equipment to increase southbound Lankershim Blvd. traffic flow. Universal Hollywood Dr. was widened at this intersection to provide a separate westbound left turn lane and protected left turn signal equipment was added to improve phasing on the east-west approach.
