Hollywood Food Coalition

Throughout the year, NBCUniversal employees have been volunteering with the Hollywood Food Coalition (HFC) to serve hundreds of freshly prepared meals to the homeless and food insecure as part of Comcast NBCUnites, the company’s new CSR initiative that encourages employees to give back to the communities where they live and work.

Volunteer activities include setting up the dining area, pouring beverages, clearing plates, cleaning up, and interacting with the guests during their meal.

In addition to volunteering, NBCUniversal film and television productions in Los Angeles partner with the HFC throughout the year to donate excess catering.  In 2018 alone, productions donated over 12,000lbs of food to the HFC, equaling over 10,000 meals for underserved individuals in Hollywood.

The mission of the Hollywood Food Coalition (HFC) is to meet and engage with the poor and homeless citizens in the community to help them find their footing and re-enter the larger community to the best of their abilities. Since 1987, they have served 1,500,000 meals and counting every night of the week. HFC provides a hot, nutritious dinner and the opportunity for clients to access case management services to assist with providing help with basic daily needs, such as clothing, backpacks, sleeping bags, and hygiene items, as well as assistance with housing placement and referrals.
